Present or accounted for until captured at or near Five Forks, Virginia, on or about April 1, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released on June 23, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance. Page 302.

Born in Sampson County in 1837, enlisted at age 22, June 1,1861 in Cumberland County. Mustered in

as Private and was promoted to Corporal on May 8, 1862. Promoted to Sergeant on September 1, 1863.

Present or accounted for until captured near Petersburg, Virginia, June 17, 1864. Confined at Point

Lookout, Maryland, until transferred to Elmira, New York, July 27, 1864. Died at Elmira on October 24,

1864 of diphtheria. Pages 302 and 666.

Born in Burke County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in McDowell County at age 22,

September 11, 1861. Mustered in as a Private. Present or accounted for during January-April 1862.

Promoted to Corporal on April 21, 1862. Appointed 3rd Lieutenant on July 5, 1864. Reported absent

without leave from January 14 through February 26, 1865. Page 370.

Born in Sampson County and enlisted at Camp Holmes, near Raleigh at age 28, July 21, 1862 for the war.

Present or accounted for until captured at or near Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia, on or about May

10, 1864. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, May 18, 1864. 1~ransferred to Elmira, New York,

August 3,1864. Died at Elmira on or about November 15, 1864 of chronic diarrhea. Page 57.

December 22, 1864. Reported on duty as a hospital guard at Fayetteville on February 16, 1865. Page

enlisting in Union County at age 45, March 15, 1862. Wounded in the head and reported missing at

Born in Sampson County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Sampson County at age 35, March 3, 1862. Present or accounted for through December 1864. Served as brigade butcher during part of the war. Surrendered at Appomattox Court house, Virginia, April 9, 1865. Page 219.
