Dr Vivian Mayo Bundy age 82, of Greensboro, N C formerly of Falcon N C died Saturday November 9. 1996. He was the son of the late Vivian Lindey and Minnie Nicholson Culbreth Bundy. was born in Mt. Olive, N.C. on June 8. 1914.

Dr. Bundy was a husband, father, friend, and educator and was married to Norma Harrington Melvin on April 30,1940. He grew up in Falcon. NC. He received from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill his BA. degree in 1935, his MA, degree in 1941 and his PhD degree in 1969. He served as an educator in White Oak. Kelly and Monticello. N.C. He served as principal and superintendent of Altamahaw Ossipee School and Madison Mayodan City Schools respectively from 1944 to 1971. In that ~me Dr. Bundy served as N.C.A.E. President and state delegate from Alamance County. He is a life member of the North Carolina Association of Educators, the American Association of School Administrators, the National Education Association, Horace Mann League. Phi Delta Kappa and the University of North Carolina Alumni Association. From 1971 to 1983 Dr. Bundy served as Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at Bennett College, Greensboro, NC. and as part time professor at Guilford. Greensboro College, and North Carolina Agriculture and Technical University. After retirement Dr. Bundy continued his genealogical research including the Bundy family as wall as the Culbreth, Winslow, Autry, Melvin, McKay and Dunham Families. He also wrote A HISTORY OF FALCON and was a ready source of historic information for friends and family alike. Dr. Bundy was a member of Rotary and served in civic organizations in Alamance County and Rockingham County. He served as Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Order 01 the Arrow. He is currently a member of the West Market Street United Methodist Church.

Funeral Service for Dr. Bundy will be held Tuesday Morning at 11:00 AM. Antioch Baptist Church in Falcon, NC. Officiating will be the Rev. Danny Nelson. Entombment will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery in Falcon. NC. Arrangements are by the Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn. NC.

Seven GrandCHILDREN: Gretchen Bundy. Laurie and Karen Bowman, Whitney and Erin Wilson & Brent and Nicolas Johnson

Nephew: James Autry Bundy. Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by brothers: Lathe Ainsley. James Autry and William Joseph Bundy.

Vivian M. Bundy

FALCON Vivian Mayo Bundy, 82, of Greensboro, formerly of Falcon, died Saturday.

He had been the principal at Altamahaw Ossipee School and superintendent of Madison Mayodan City Schools from 1944 to 1971. Mr. Bundy served as N.C. Association of Educators president and was a state delegate from Alamance Count),. He was a life member of the N.C.A.E., the American Association of School Administrators, the National Education Association and the Horace Mann League. He was a professor and later department head at Bennett College in Greensboro. Mr. Bundy was a Part-time professor at Guilford College, Greensboro College and N.C. Agriculture and Technical State university. He wrote "A History of Falcon." He was a member of the Rotary Club and served as a commissioner for Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Antioch Baptist Church in Falcon by the Rev. Danny Nelson. Entombment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mr. Bundy is survived by his wife, Norma M. Bundy of the home; a son, Vee Mayo of Roswell, Ga.; three daughters, Kay B. Bowman of Burlington, Deborah B. Wilson of Southern Pines and Linda B. Johnson of Greensboro; and seven grandCHILDREN. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the Bundy home in Falcon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of North Carolina School of Education Bundy Scholarship, care of Kay B. Bowman, 2325 Edgewood Ave., Burlington, N.C. 27215.
