HOW TO USE THIS BOOK

This book is divided into twelve chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the origin and arrival of the first Autrys in America. It also includes early census records, legal documents, war records, and data on Cornelius Autry, Immigrant, our original progenitor. The next eleven chapters are devoted to the children of Cornelius, Immigrant. Each child has been assigned a chapter, but since Martha Autry who married Cornelius Culbreth (Galbreath) is so long, it is divided into a section for each child. It may be read forward or backward depending on where you locate your name or family. A modified outline system is used with Cornelius, Immigrant, representing the first generation. Each chapter represents his children, the second generation. Roman numbers represent their children, the third generation, capital alphabet numbers represent the fourth generation, Arabic numbers represent the fifth generation, and each indenture represents another generation. There is room in the left hand margin to list numbers each person represents if you wish to add them.

At the beginning of each family the number of children in that family is listed and at the end of that family a notation is made that it completes that family. There are a number of cross references. If you run into a family that the cross reference is not correct or clear, go to the index to find the correct location of the cross reference. We had a lot of cousins marrying cousins.

Have fun using our book, and we hope you enjoy it. We have a great heritage.
